Today’s topic… 90’s punk
Of course, punk originated in the mid 70’s and then reached a hardcore level in the early 80’s, but among the grunge, alternative, and pop music that filled the 90’s airwaves, there were bands grinding it out in the punk scene and doing quite well. Some of the bands cleaned up their sound and lyrics to move toward a more radio-friendly sound like Green Day and The Offspring, and even Rancid found themseselves with a couple of radio hits, but today I’m going to focus on albums that you may not have heard of and that I feel you should give a shot.
These were all influential to me and were mainstays in my high school and college playlists. Heck – they’re even my go to albums today, so I have selected 10 albums that I think you should check out – even if you don’t consider yourself a fan of 90’s punk. While some of these bands have definitely had bigger albums than the ones I’m listing here – these are the ones I consider to be the best!
